Kendall College Welcomes Agueda Benito as New Provost
CHICAGO—August 24, 2015 Kendall College is proud to announce the appointment of Agueda Benito as provost of the institution, effective immediately. Benito joins the Kendall College team with more than 20 years of professional experience in higher education and academic administration in which she has been an advocate and facilitator of an innovative, student-centered model of education. As provost, Benito will fill the role of chief academic officer and oversee academic policies and practices of Kendall College, with direct oversight of its academic programs.
“Agueda will bring to Kendall not only a wealth of knowledge as an academic leader but also a fresh and new look to our programs and initiatives, deeply rooted in her international experience and collaboration across institutions in the Laureate International Universities network,” said Emily W. Knight, president of Kendall College. “Her commitment to strong outcomes and employability will be a tremendous asset to the institution and for our students.”
Prior to her appointment as Kendall College provost, Benito served the Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM), located in Spain, for 17 years, most recently as the University’s chief academic officer. In this role, she was instrumental in positioning UEM as one of the most respected private higher education institutions in the country and driving the institution forward with a focus on innovation, institutional accreditation, high employability rates and effective research.
“It is an honor to join Kendall College. Our school has a gained a well-deserved reputation for truly helping students to bridge the gap between educational knowledge and career success, and I look forward to cultivating that capability in new ways,” said Benito. “We will work together to keep improving our programs and enhance our international network.”
Benito holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in meteorology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in addition to a master’s degree in human resources and a doctorate in education from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). She has published more than 50 papers, book chapters and books.
