Kendall College Student Selected To Attend Clinton Global Initiative University
Chris Berndt, enrolled in the International School of Business, was selected in a competitive process across the Laureate International Universities network
Chicago—March 5, 2015—Chris Berndt, a 24-year-old undergraduate business management student at Kendall College, has been selected to attend the eighth annual Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) at the University of Miami on March 6 – 8, 2015. Berndt was chosen from a pool of students in the Laureate International Universities network who were nominated based on academic results and demonstrated experience leading projects that make a positive, long-term impact in their local communities. Berndt joins three additional students from Costa Rica, Brazil and Morocco.
Chris Berndt’s Clinton Global Initiative University commitment is called Generation Now. Generation Now focuses on empowering inner-city high school youth, teaching them about nutrition, health, skills training, mentoring, and goal-setting. Chris plans to graduate in October 2015 and would like to continue to focus on improving education in the United States.
“Chris is such an inspiring young leader in our school and we are very proud that he was selected,” said Emily Knight, president of Kendall College. “His Generation Now project demonstrate a keen sensitivity to some of the challenges we face in our Chicago’s communities and aligns with our mission to not only nurture the minds of our graduates, but to instill in them a sense of empowerment in the role they play as responsible citizens and agents of change.”
In addition to attending the event, these students will act as anchors during an exclusive follow up tri-lingual broadcast between 10am and 4.30pm (ET) on March 9, 2015 which will feature interviews with over twenty plenary speakers and special guests.
