)
Friday, October 05, 2012 1:17 PM
Dear Mr. Clake,
How are you today? After two day at the program, I realized something and I need to tell you about my problem after talking to my family.
My English is not enough for me to catch up what exactly the chef told in the class, I still worry about that and feel I am not ready to take the class. So I want to withdraw on this fall quarter and improve my English before I come back to the kitchen. I want to write the letter for you and let you know before I come to meet you. I still have something to confuse, could you tell me when I withdraw from this fall quarter, the school will refund for me, isn’t it? I want to use that money to apply to the English school.
I am so sorry about that and I do not want to miss anything from the chef in kitchen, the good environment in class. I will get back when I am ready. I want to meet you as soon as possible to help me withdrawal processing. Could you take the time for me? Thank you so much and so sorry about my decision.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Phuong Nguyen.

Hi Phuong,
I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulties in the classroom. The last day to withdraw with a full refund is 10OCT. 24OCT is deadline for 80% refund. You would have about 10 days to transfer to an ESL school that accepts English language students if you withdraw on 10OCT, otherwise you would have to return to Vietnam.
As a Baking and Pastry student, you would need to come back in January or otherwise you couldn’t start again until the Summer 2013 quarter as we don’t offer a Spring start in this program.
Which class is giving you the most difficulties? Is it just one? Studying in another language does indeed take time to get used to listening and in the kitchen, it is perhaps one of the hardest places to start. Your listening will improve a little every week as you get to used to things so you may want to attend classes on Monday and see how it goes.
Please attend orientation on Saturday as you still are required to submit all documents and learn the regulations. During a break we can chat for a minute. If you do decide to go to another school, as I said, I can give you some options if you want to stay in Chicago.
Best regards,
Clare
