8月24日,伊利诺伊州州长Pat Quinn在芝加哥肯代尔大学签署了参议院第758号法案(Senate Bill758),“学术呷吐”(Academic Sip & Spit )成为法律。该法律的实施将会帮助创造就业,为学生开创西餐西点和酒店管理职业生涯做准备。该法案使伊利诺伊州18岁以上的酒店和烹饪专业学生能够进行品鉴技能培训,更好地了解如何用酒类和酒精烹饪,以及如何用合适的配菜搭配合适的酒水。该法案将会使伊利诺伊州相较于其它拥有餐饮课程的州如加州和纽约州更具竞争力。
参与此次立法的代表有:SB 0758众议院提案人Lou Lang、伊利诺伊州餐厅协会主席(Illinois Restaurant Association)Sam Toia、伊利诺伊州酒店和住宿协会(Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association)主席和首席执行官Marc Gordon、第27区芝加哥市议员Walter Burnett、肯代尔大学教职员工和学生,以及当地烹饪和酒店行业专业人士。参议员Donne Trotter是此次法案的首席参议院提案人。
肯代尔大学校长Emily Williams Knight表示:“我要衷心感谢州长Quinn在肯代尔大学签署这一法案。肯代尔大学的目标是通过提供全面综合的优质教育把学生培养成未来的领导者,无论学生走向什么样的职业生涯道路。我们的西餐西点和酒店管理课程包含合适和尽责的酒精饮料培训。这条法律使伊利诺伊州的学生与其它州学习这些课程的学生处于平等的起跑线上,确保我们的毕业生具备进入劳动力市场所需的有竞争力的各种必要技能。”

Illinois' Academic Sip & Spit Bill Will Allow Students to Develop Tasting Training Skills

Governor Pat Quinn signed Senate Bill 758, Academic Sip & Spit into law in front of a packed house at Chicago’s Kendall College on August 24. The legislation will help create jobs and prepare students for culinary-arts and hospitality-management careers. The bill allows Illinois hospitality andculinary students older than 18 to develop skills in tasting training,providing a better understanding of how to cook with wine and spirits and howto pair the right beverage with appropriate meal offerings. The bill will make Illinois competitive with other states such as California and New York that have wine and beverage programs forfirst-year students.
Attending the event were Representative Lou Lang, House sponsor of SB 0758; Sam Toia,president of the Illinois Restaurant Association; Marc Gordon, president andCEO of the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association; 27th WardChicago Alderman Walter Burnett; Kendall faculty, staff and students; and localculinary- and hospitality-industry professionals. Senator Donne Trotter was thechief Senate sponsor of the legislation.
“My thanks toGovernor Quinn for signing the bill into law at Kendall College,” says Kendall College president Emily Williams Knight.“Our goal at Kendall College is to preparestudents to be leaders in whatever professional career path they pursue byproviding a comprehensive educational experience. Within our culinary-artsand hospitality-management programs, this includes proper and responsiblealcoholic-beverage training. This law puts Illinois students on equal footing withstudents in these programs in other states, and helps ensure our graduates arequalified with the skills they need to be competitive once they enter theworkforce.”
