SHG高中毕业生参加美食网真人秀节目
芝加哥Nostalgic Catering公司的拥有者、Sacred Heart-Griffin高中(SHG)1999届毕业生厨师KaraSigle将参加《美食网明星》(Food Network Star),竞争获得进行自己的美食网节目的机会。
Sacred Heart-Griffin高中1999届毕业生是开始于5月13日的真人秀节目《美食网明星》第八季的15名决赛选手中的其中一位。
芝加哥NostalgicCatering公司的拥有者厨师Kara Sigle将参与每周挑战秀的竞争,来获取进行自己美食网节目的机会。Guy Fieri、Aaron McCargo Jr.、Melissa d’Arabian和 Aarti Sequeira是节目前几季的获胜者,目前他们已成为美食网耳熟能详的名人。
Kara的父亲John Sigle来自斯普林菲尔德(Springfield),他表示:“我们接到了大量的电话,并收到了大量的邮件,但是我们实在是没有多少信息可以告诉他们,因为录制竞赛过程中没有任何人透露任何信息。“
31岁的Kara和其他决赛选手都不能接受媒体采访,直到这一系列完结才可以。该节目会于每周日晚上8点在Food Network(ComcastChannel 48)播出。
John Sigle表示他对女儿入选参加这一节目一点都不惊讶,该节目主要测试选手的烹饪技能和临场表现。
他说:“Kara在她的人生当中做了一些非常了不起的事情。“她一直对健康和美食感兴趣。
在SHG,Kara是拉拉队的队长,作为伊利诺伊州立大学的学生(Illinois State University),她是Redline Express舞蹈队的队长和Big Red Marching Machine的成员。她于2003年毕业,获得营销学士学位。
业后,Kara去了旧金山,担任一家数据处理公司的区域经理,并成为49ers Gold Rush的拉拉队队长。随后,她又去了芝加哥,从肯代尔大学西餐西点学院毕业,并于2007年创立Nostalgic Catering公司。

John Sigle表示女儿对美食感兴趣是受了妻子Kathy的影响,他的妻子是一个很棒的厨师。
他表示:“我们确实不知道Kara到底有多喜欢烹饪,直到有一天她从学校回家,为我们做了一顿7道菜的大餐。那时我们都非常震惊。“
《美食网明星》这季的决赛选手被分配到分别由3位节目主持人领导的小组中,这3位主持人分别是:Bobby Flay、GiadaDe Laurentiis和 Alton Brown。Kara被分到Flay领导的那一组。

ChefKara Sigle, owner of Nostalgic Catering in Chicago and a 1999 SHG graduate,will compete on "Food Network Star" for a chance to headline her ownFood Network program.
A 1999 graduate of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School is one of 15finalists competing in the eighth season of reality series “Food NetworkStar,” debuting May 13.
Chef Kara Sigle, owner of Nostalgic Cateringin Chicago,will vie on the weekly challenge show for a chance to headline her own FoodNetwork program. Guy Fieri, Aaron McCargo Jr., Melissa d’Arabian and AartiSequeira are among the winners from past seasons who have become familiar nameson the Food Network.
“We are getting bombarded with calls ande-messages, but there is not much we can tell them because they don’t reallydon't give out any information during the production,” said Kara’s father, JohnSigle of Springfield.
Kara, 31, and the other finalists are notallowed to do media interviews until the series has aired. The program will runon the Food Network (Comcast Channel 48) at 8 p.m. Sundays.
John Sigle said he isn’t surprised that hisdaughter was selected for the program, which measures cooking skills as well ason-air presence.
“Kara has done some incredible thingsthroughout her life,” he said. She has long been interested in fitness andfood.
At SHG, Kara was co-captain of the pomponsquad and, as a student at Illinois State University,she was captain of the Redline Express dance team and a member of the Big RedMarching Machine. She graduated in 2003 with a degree in marketing.
After graduation, Kara moved to San Francisco, where sheworked as a district manager for a data processing company and became a 49ersGold Rush cheerleader. Moving to Chicago,she graduated from Kendall College of Culinary Arts and founded NostalgicCatering in 2007.
“Her expertise is taking classics and puttinga healthy spin on it,” said the chef’s father.
In addition to running the catering company,Kara also owns The Total Body Boot Camp, a conditioning program held outdoorsin a Chicagopark. Because of her passion for working out, she appeared in the Jockey 2010Real Athletes ad campaign.
John Sigle said his daughter’s interest infood was influenced by his wife, Kathy, who he said is a great cook.
“We really didn't realize how much Kara likedto cook until she came home from college one time and cooked us a seven-coursemeal. We were amazed,” he said.
The finalists on this season’s “Food NetworkStar” have each been assigned to a team headed by one of the show’s threehosts: Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Alton Brown. Kara is on Flay’s team.
