[校友风采] 肯代尔毕业生 Schubkegel:Home Again 餐厅盛大开幕

4月28日,星期六,Home Again餐厅迎来了盛大的开业典礼。
      该活动会在餐厅举行,地点巴黎4410 200th Ave,时间上午11点至晚上10点。到时会有各种抽奖活动、现场音乐活动和特制饮品。
      名字背后有什么含义呢?厨师Ower Emily Schubkegel解释说这家餐厅是她在芝加哥餐厅行业工作8年对这个地区的回报。
       Schubkegel表示:“我们将这家餐厅命名为HomeAgain是因为我曾经住在芝加哥,而如今我在巴黎。”
       Schubkegel在肯代尔大学获得了西餐西点学士学位。她说拥有一家自己的餐厅是每一个学西餐的学生的梦想。但是这对于一个初学者而言太过于艰难。
       但是现在Schubkegel有了经验,她在家人的支持下有了实现梦想的机会。她的母亲Terri Schubkegel在Home Again运营前厅,Schubkegel管理厨房。Schubkegel的其他家人也经常过来帮忙。
       Schubkegel表示:“机会来了,而且看起来还是一次非常棒的机会。”
       尽管开一家新的餐厅对Schubkegel来说非常新鲜,但是烹饪却是她非常拿手的。她很小的时候就对烹饪产生了浓厚的兴趣,她的母亲说她5岁时就想拥有一家自己的餐厅。
       在Home Again餐厅,她努力营造一种高雅但仍然不失家的温馨的感觉。
       Home Again在3月5日开业以前就完成了整个的内部空间装修,Schubkegel说“你在餐厅里会感觉很舒服,但是里面还是会有一些时髦的元素。”
      她将制作的美食称之为“高雅的家庭烹饪”。所有食品都是精心准备的。餐厅为您提供开胃小吃、三明治、主菜、汤类和沙拉。
      两个月过后,这位曾经雄心壮志的烹饪学生如何看待自己拥有了一家餐厅这件事呢?
       Schubkegel表示:“我每天都很开心。我们一天工作很长时间,但是只要你开心其它都不算什么。”

Home Again restaurant to hold grandopening April 28

Home Again Restaurant is having a grand opening celebrationSaturday, April 28.
The event will take place at the restaurant, 4410 200th Ave.,Paris from 11 a.m. to 10p.m. Featured will be raffles, door prizes, live music and drink specials.
What’s behind the name? Chef/Ower Emily Schubkegel explains thatthe restaurant is a return to the area for her after eight years of working inthe restaurant business in Chicago.
“We named it Home Again because I was in Chicago and now I’m here,” Schubkegel said.
Schubkegel attended Kendall College, earning a degreein culinary arts. She said having their own restaurant isthe dream of every culinary school student. But most think it is toocomplicated for a beginner.
But with a little experience behind her, Schubkegel now hasthe opportunity to realize that dream with an assist from her family. Hermother, Terri Schubkegel, runs the front of the house at HomeAgain while Schubkegel rules in the kitchen. The rest ofthe Schubkegel family are also regulars helping out at the restaurantas well.
“This came along and it seemed likea perfect opportunity,” Schubkegel said.
While owning a restaurant is new to Schubkegel, cooking isnot. She had a strong interest in cooking early on in life and hermom says she wanted her own restaurant at 5 years old.
In Home Again, Schubkegel is striving to offer an elegantbut still family friendly feel.
“You can feel comfortable, but it still has some classyelements,” Schubkegel said of Home Again, which had its interiorspace completely redone before the opening on March 5.
She calls the food “elegant homecooking.” Everything is made from scratch. The menu offers appetizers,sandwiches, entrees and soups and salads.
So now with a couple of months behind her, what does the onetimeambitious culinary student think of owning her own place?
“I have fun every day,” Schubkegel  said. “We havelong days, but it’s OK when you’re having fun.”
