这学期,学生通过出售美味烘焙产品为Growing Home(致力于利用有机农业作为工作培训、就业和社区发展方式的企业)筹得了1300多美金。
Barb McIntyre

Update from the Kendall College Business Program
Curriculum
In each issue we showcase business courses and academic outcomes through student work, assessment results, assignment and classroom examples, instructor profiles, and more.
In BUS 250 – Project Management, students are required to put into practice essential project management skills by designing, planning, and executing a fundraising or charitable service project. Over the years, thousands of dollars and dozens of hours of time have been contributed. This term, students sold delicious baked goods to raise over $1,300 for Growing Home (see Chicago section below). Last summer, students raised over $1,000 for Make a Wish Foundation by selling tickets to a chef competition for two of Kendall’s Culinary Arts students.
Connections
We’d like to introduce you to people we appreciate or admire - students, Kendall faculty and staff, employers, alumni, and others who make a difference to us.
As a salute to amazing women on our faculty team and to continue our theme on the Project Management class success, let’s meet the instructors behind these great endeavors. Barb McIntyre (pictured bottom left) first introduced this idea into our curriculum 3 years ago. We loved the idea of combining community service with core curriculum. Lori Buckner (top picture, middle) carried on the tradition last year and led a group last term that raised funds for Make a Wish Foundation with a cooking competition. Patricia Hleihel (pictured bottom right) taught the group of students who recently raised money for Growing Home (see Chicago section below). Patricia is one of our recent faculty additions who came to us after 30 years of working and teaching in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Careers
Whether the goal is to start a company, break into a new industry, advance in a career, or change the world, we want to help our students turn their passions into rewarding professions.
Project Management is an excellent career path; it is the core of many other functions with varied titles: client management, product management, program management, and so on. Similarly, entrepreneurs need strong project management skills to take an idea from scratch to fully operational business. Certification or post graduate specialization can further careers in this growing job area. Not only do we have a class devoted to project management, we reinforce it when students are expected to generate project plans in other classes.
Chicago
Chicago is a fantastic place to start a business, land a job, build a network, take a tour, make friends, eat a meal... Our location in the heart of the city makes it easy to take advantage of all that Chicago has to offer.
The organization for which the BUS 250 course raised funds this winter is Growing Home, which runs several Chicago-based urban farms. These projects provide certified organic produce as a mechanism for training, employment, and community development.
