肯代尔大学推出家庭厨师烹饪课程

       各个水平的美食爱好者都将获得独特的烹饪课堂学习机会!


       芝加哥(2013年4月30日),肯代尔大学西餐西点学院为业余美食爱好者提供家庭厨师烹饪课程。之前的“为生活增添情趣”项目已再次推出,为那些想要改善烹饪技能和向肯代尔经验丰富的烹饪教师学习的家庭厨师提供新的娱乐烹饪体验。课程分初级、中级、高级水平,为雄心壮志的厨师在每一个发展阶段都提供非凡的体验。


       此外,肯代尔大学还为美食爱好者开设了无学分密集课程系列“肯代尔大学家庭厨师证书”(Kendall College Home Chef Certificate)。家庭厨师证书仅仅只需一年学习就可以获得,每周二和周四晚上6:30 - 10:30上课,再加上免费的每周三选学辅导日。课程结束时,所有学员都需要在肯代尔Dining Room餐厅为家人、朋友和公众准备一顿礼拜日早午餐。届时,会举办一个短暂的典礼,为学员授予参与证书。第一批学员的开课时间为2013年7月8日。


       肯代尔大学校长Emily Williams Knight表示:“开设新的家庭厨师课程非常令人兴奋。作为卓越的烹饪学院,通过社区外展和教育课程保持卓越烹饪水准至关重要,家庭厨师项目是展示我们烹饪教师团体的烹饪热情和奉献精神的绝佳机会。”


       家庭厨师学员将使用当地食材锻炼自己的刀工、煎炒、炖、烘焙技能,并将在农贸市场挑选的原材料融入到每天的食谱当中。各级水平学习如下:


       •        初级——诸如“进入朱莉和茱莉亚的世界”(Step into the World of Julie and Julia)和“夏季派”(Summertime Pies)等课程将教授基本的烹饪技能,如烘焙饼干、酱汁制作和制作完美的奶酪蛋糕。


       •        中级——“烘焙和西点技能半天课”、“冰淇淋”课程会帮助家庭厨师拓展烹饪知识和专业技能,如烤、煮、炖等,同时介绍像快炒和灼等重要技能。课程还将涵盖自制意大利面、健康烹饪、国际菜肴、烘焙和西点。


       •        高级——新学员训练营模式,烹饪教练会教授复杂的烹饪技能,包括水果和蔬菜雕刻、国际菜肴调味、复杂的烘焙和西点制作。接下来的课程包括烹饪技能半天训练营,水果、奶酪和蔬菜雕刻半天训练营。学员需要掌握基本的刀工。

Kendall College Introduces Home Chef Cooking Classes
Food Enthusiasts at Every Skill Level Given Unique Culinary Classroom Opportunities


CHICAGO (April 30, 2013) – Kendall College School of Culinary Arts introduces new Home Chef cooking classes for amateur food enthusiasts.  The former “Spice Up Your Life” program has been re-launched to offer a new recreational cooking experience for at-home chefs hoping to refine their culinary skills and learn from Kendall’s experienced culinary faculty. Classes are offered at Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels to provide an exceptional experience for aspiring chefs at every stage of development. 

    
In addition, Kendall is launching the Kendall College Home Chef Certificate, an intensive series of non-credit bearing classes for the food enthusiast. The Home Chef Certificate of Participation can be obtained in just under a year with classes held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 10:30pm, with an optional tutoring day on Wednesday for no additional fee. The classes culminate with all participants preparing a Sunday brunch in the Dining Room at Kendall College for friends, family and the public. A short ceremony will be held to present participants with their Certificate of Participation. The first group of participants will start classes at Kendall College July 8, 2013.


“We are thrilled to be launching the new Home Chef program,” said Kendall College President Emily Williams Knight. “As a top-ranked culinary school, it’s important that we maintain our standard of culinary excellence through community outreach and educational programs, and Home Chef is one opportunity to showcase the passion and dedication of our culinary faculty.”  


Home Chef participants will hone culinary techniques from knife skills, sautéing and braising to baking with local ingredients and integrating farmers’ market picks into everyday recipes.  An overview of each level:
•        Beginner – Courses such as Step into the World of Julie and Julia and Summertime Pies will teach basic cooking skills from baking cookies and sauce making, to mastering the perfect cheesecake. 
•        Intermediate – Classes from Baking and Pastry Techniques Multi-day Class to Ice Cream and Gelato, will help home cooks expand their knowledge and expertise in cooking techniques such as roasting, boiling and braising, while introducing important skills like stir fry and searing. Topics will cover homemade pasta, healthy cooking, international cuisine, and baking and pastry.
•        Advanced –Boot camp-style sessions, coach attendees through complex cooking skills including fruit and vegetable carving, international cuisine flavoring and intricate baking and pastry projects. Upcoming courses include Culinary Skills Multi-day Boot Camp and Fruit, Cheese and Vegetable Carving Multi-day Boot Camp. Basic knife skills are required.
