Craft beer is on the rise across the United States and across the world. People enjoy the hard work and creativity that goes into creating craft beer. Assistant Professors Phil Mott and John Laloganes of the School Of Hospitality at Kendall College put together this wonderful info-graphic that was based on a study they completed that details the growth of the craft beer category as a whole along with food pairing suggestions to go with different types of craft beer. Some of the interesting points detailed in the info-graphic include:
• 36 % of consumers drink craft beer.
• 43% of Millennials (ages 25-34) prefer the taste of craft beer as opposed to 32% of baby boomers. This shows that younger people are more interested in drinking craft beer as opposed to their older counterparts.
• 45% of consumers would try more craft beers if they knew more about them. This shows that marketing and reach is a very crucial aspect of the craft beer industry. Small brewers may have an amazing beer but won't be able to outsell Budweiser anytime soon based on their advantages in both marketing and reach.
• There are 2,403 breweries currently operating throughout the world at the end of 2012. This is the highest number since the 1880s.
• Craft brewers provide an estimated 103,585 jobs in the United States. This shows that while a lot of industries are struggling, the craft beer industry is providing jobs for hard working Americans.
• The sale of craft beer is projected to triple from 12 billion in 2012 to at least 36 billion in 2017.
